'Accelerating Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment. The Necessity of an Administrative Case-by-Case Examination': An empirical study conducted by the author shows that the case-by-case examination is time-consuming. The causes of this are manifold, whereas the possibilities for acceleration are limited. By contrast, the setting of legislative criteria for determining projects exempt from EIA and plans exempt from SEA offers potential to accelerate planning and permit-granting procedures. The thesis therefore develops abstract standards for legislation in conformity with (European Union) law.
